Jaya Bachchan featured in a film called Lovesongs (2008) that made me want to scream from rooftops about it because I loved it so much.
Then, I started finding other indie films that I had never even heard of before. I had to gorge on all of them, and I swear it was like they faciliated my already changing brain chemistry.
Eventually, I realised that there are serious cinephiles who know and love these works, but not enough of the masses may know about them. Ultimately, this blog is a labour of love to ensure that these underrated, lowkey films get their moment on the internet as well.
There is a need to preserve the legacy of Indian cinema that isn’t mainstream.
These films portray incredible stories and showcase just how wide and diverse “Indian cinema” really is in the first place.
